Getting Started

High school. Just the sound of it gives me the chills. Rushing from class to class, big projects, and balancing school with our personal and social lives. It can be hard sometimes and stressful but that's why we are here! We want to hear YOUR high school stories, give others hope that they can make it through high school alive, or to just let out some crazy things that happens at your school. We will change our topics every Tuesday and we will answer as many questions as we can and as quickly as we can. We can all get through this crazy place called high school together. This weeks discussion is over how to balance school with your personal and social life. If you have any ideas or stories let us know, we would be happy to hear about them.

  1. Being in High School, from the outside looking in, can be extremely overwhelming. With all your grades going on your transcript and the test grades you get, all determine what college you go to. In High School probably the best thing to know is what you are bad at. In my case I have problems in English and language rules, and History. so what is good to do, is make study partners, or become friends with the people that you are opposites, in the subjects that you are good at, so if you are bad at math, but good at science, find a friend who is good at math and bad at science, so you aren't being used, and you are not using someone else, but this also leads to relationships, that may last through high school.

  2. i found that it helps A LOT when you are friends with "the right group" of kids, because if you hang out with a bunch of losers, then you will find your self thinking and acting just like them. I know that sounds lame and stupid, but trust me, i've been down that road before and when i stopped hanging out with them, and it was for the better because my grades, my thoughts and actions all improved and now i couldn't be happier:) :) It also helps to write in a journal and i know that sounds lame too, but you will feel soooo much better afterwards

  3. In response to Taylor-walls, team high school completely aggress with what you have to say. High school can be especially scary for those who are just starting. Your ways of making sure you keep you grades up is an excellent way. Finding a study partner especially one who is strong in what you need help in and weak in what you are strong at.

  4. In response to Kelly, team high school finds that you have taken a big step to be apart from the crowd and do what is best for you and your future. The people you hang out with can have a huge impact on your grades. Expressing what you have to say is a great way to not let stress get you which in the end has a positive effect on your mind and body.

  5. High School is amazing but it is full of drama. I love getting more free time and just hanging out at school. But when it comes to the drama, you just have to ignore it and let it pass you by. Only believe it if you heard it. Don't take people's word for granted..But i do like high school in general..relationships with peeople are great, getting involved in the school is something everyone should do, and just being there and enjoying it. Yeah, Im defiantly going to miss high school, I have already had some pretty great memories. The time flies, your just having such a great time. I try and do to the best of my abiltity to keep my grades up because its gonna count when i decide to go to college. I just stay focus and on task, and enjoy the time i spend at high school...

  6. I am fortunate enough to not have ever experiance any drama whatsoever. I have a lot of friend, I text before I do my homework, my grades are okay. My problem is, my grades could be a lot better. I dont try very hard at all. It's hard to balance everything. A lot of teenagers think that you have to talk to everyone TONIGHT. but the truth is, they can wait. I have problems with this. Who you hang out with plays a big part in your character because they influence you. If everyone in your social group acts one way then you probaly will too. You could always try to help them get in the right track. They need to balance their stuff too.

Team High School is so happy that you are having a great experience in high school. These are the days of our lives! Drama can get pretty crazy sometimes but we just got to ignore most of it. People try to get under our skins to see our big reaction. If we don’t give them a big reaction then they don’t want to cause drama with us anymore. Sometimes it can be hard but you just got to push through it.(: Getting involved with the school is awesome! I know I try my best to go to as many activities as I can because it gives me more great memories of my days in high school. And grades are a major part in your decision of a college. But what are some of your ways on staying on track because I know lots of people have trouble with that. Would you care to share some of your ways?(:

You should take advantage of not having any drama. Really. And you are not the only one who texts before homework. If you walked around your school and just ask 20 random people in the hall way if they text before homework I’m sure 90 percent of them would admit to it. And your right, the group of people you hang out with do influence you greatly but you can also influence them! Show them new ways to do things and like you said…help them get on the right track. Team High School is happy to hear from you.
